Bathroom Trend Watch 2015
Nothing makes a bathroom feel more luxurious than a feeling of space. Large tiles create a feeling of grandeur and give an illusion of space and depth as there are less grout joints. A floating vanity with tiles flowing underneath also accentuates the flow of the room. Use a monochromatic colour scheme to accentuate the feeling of openness. This doesn’t mean use just one colour but stick to different shades of a neutral colour for a clean, modern edge.
Natural light in a bathroom is always desirable. Choose large windows to accentuate the feeling of space and light. There is nothing quite like the feeling of walking into a bathroom lit with glorious sunshine. Large mirrors in bathrooms also accentuate space and light. Consider the subject that will be reflected from the mirror. Mirrors across from a window will reflect light and scenery and work to create a feeling of calm and serenity.
Frameless glass and walk-in showers are a great addition to add visual space to any bathroom and provide a modern finish to your design.
Tapware design plays an important part in the look of the bathroom space and should be a consideration in completing the look. Softened geometrics with naturally occurring, curved lines continue to be on trend in tapware. Combining distinct angles with soft forms brings a sense of nature to the bathroom design.
Storage in the bathroom continues to be a hot topic – look for drawer options which maximise space in the vanity or in-cupboard organisational systems that help organise bathroom clutter.
As technology gets better and better, ways to manage ventilation in the bathroom also gets better and better. We are seeing a significant trend to built-in ventilation systems that not only function excellently but are discrete and add to the designer-flavour of the bathroom.
