Rural living Wamboin
This magnificent home is located in Wamboin on the border of NSW and the ACT. Set in a remote landscape, it was important to the owners that the home be built into the setting so it would look at home in the location. Architecturally designed, the owners put their trust into the team at Natura Homes to make their home a reality.
With two spectacular statement “wings” the home has been both practically and aesthetically blended into the surrounding environment with the raised sections making the most of the incredible vistas that can be enjoyed from the twin balconies. The central spine of the home works with the terrain to match its undulations and make the home appear as if it truly belongs in this location.
The interior is just as impressive with a well-considered open-plan layout which is cleverly divided into different zones or rooms thanks to flooring in polished concrete and timber and varying ceiling heights. This has created an interior that is equally warm and welcoming as it is open, light and bright.
Much thought was given to the use of glass to provide views from almost every room in the home. At every point, nature is invited into this home with a range of timbers and simple colour palettes allowing the immediate natural environment to take centre stage.
Externally the building is clad in textured Tasmanian Oak cladding – a sustainable composite timber product which is the perfect choice for this rugged setting. Two feature walls break up the expanse of timber and add a visual point of difference. Colorbond Stramit Corrugated Cladding in Monument is ideal to off-set the warmth of the timber while the rough texture of the Stone that was removed from the earthworks and relocated around the home as a lovely complement to the surroundings.
To further enhance the aesthetic of the home in its environment, the decking in Spotted Gum and the expressed structural steel beams are some of the main visual features of the home, seen almost immediately upon approach.
A special home such as this one cannot be achieved without a close working relationship between the homeowners, the builder, the architects and the interior designer all whom consulted at length during the process. This is a truly one-of-a-kind building that required the particular attention to detail for which Natura Homes is renowned.
